Weekend Links | Vol. 2

Expected and required to make this bruschetta for this weekend’s birthday party

Happy Friday, friends! I hate to be a Debbie downer and talk about this crummy Chicago weather we”re having, but it’s definitely taking a toll. It snowed yesterday and today… We’re one week into April, what is this?! With that being said, it has me dreaming of summer days – although, it’s making them hard to imagine and even harder to shop for.

This weekend I’m heading back home again for my youngest niece’s second birthday party – As mentioned above I’mm be making bruschetta,. I can’t believe this little peanut is already two! If you have little ones at home, or in your family, I’d love to know how you choose thoughtful birthday gifts? I always try to aim to do something creative or unique, but sometimes cash or a special toy is even more appreciated.

A few things I’ve been searching this week are linked below, and I’d love your advice. Hoping you all have a cozy (…) weekend! x

  • Trying to prep for #Eurotrip and wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a universal adapter? I found this one at Target and it seems super affordable
  • After long deliberation I’ve decided to attempt to commit to (I know that doesn’t sound convincing) Whole30 starting on Monday (it might be Whole21 – i.e. through the month of April would be it’s own success, TBD) – So many resources have been helpful including this book, this site and I feel like these Primal Kitchen dressings will be a lifesaver
  • Also, I did Hello Fresh and Blue Apron a year ago and purposely kept two recipe cards so I could remake them, then recently realized they got lost in the move – How cool is it that all recipes are listed on their sites?! I’m talking about this pork and apple dish and these calzones – After Whole30, LOL
  • My beloved Southwest Airlines is running yet another sale with flights from Chicago as low as $49 – Seriously considering jumping on a plane to Florida or Vegas for a weekend for some Vitamin D (the Southwest credit card points are perfect for moments like these, TBH)
  • Last night I attended an event called Steakeducation at Chicago Chophouse where we sampled and learned about a ton of different cuts of steak – And drank a few too many glasses of wine for a Thursday (Also, I forget how mobster the ambiance is at old school Chicago steakhouses – I literally got a lesson on Al Capone’s supporters, allies and enemies as framed on their dining room wall)
  • Grace Atwood wrote a post about what motivates her, and it’s made me wonder if I can really answer that question? Something to think about… Within the post she raves about this J.Crew button down bodysuit that I think might need to try since untucked shirts are one of my biggest pet peeves
  • I’ve been out of my all time favorite BB Cream by Estee Lauder since last summer – Belk is running a great gift with purchase and it’d be the perfect time to order – It’s gives the best coverage and sunscreen without feeling heavy or sticky
  • Macy’s is also running a gift with purchase for Clinique – I should stock up on my favorites including this set and this after sun which I explained my love for in this post
  • My girl Hallie Wilson shared what she learned from moderating a panel of successful women – “When the tide rises, we all float” is so true and a mantra I’m proud to believe in – And it was all to benefit Girls on the Run
