The Best Podcasts I’ve Discovered So Far

The Best Podcast I've Discovered So Far

In my opinion, podcasts are ironic – if you think about it, they’re so similar to radio shows 100 years ago. Except instead of hudling around in living room with family, you can listen alone on your iPhone (not sure which one is worse? LOL). The most popular podcast I’d heard of – before I started listening to them – was Serial.I hated it. Everyone raved about it, and I re-listened to the first episode about 3 times and still couldn’t follow it. Way too much thinking and I couldn’t follow it nor was I enticed. I can barely follow SVU with visuals and audio – for me, the suspenseful, novel-esque genre wasn’t for me.

Years later, I’ve slowly discovered the ones that resonate with me. Anything motivating, business-focused, centered around mindfulness or funny have quickly become my favorite. Since most people are picky with their favorites, I thought I’d share the ones I’m hooked on currently. And since I’m now on this podcast kick – I’d love to discover even more, so please share with me your favorites!

The U Up Podcast

Discovering this podcast last week is when I actually got inspired to write this post. It”s hilarious and yet so honest about the modern world of dating. I haven’t listened to many “funny” shows, but to be honest this one feels like it’s two of your friends chatting to you. Doesn’t require much thinking – maybe because it’s frighteningly relatable. Some topics discussed include how many dates you should wait before adding someone on Instagram and other stupid things we don’t have answers to while dating in 2018.

The Influencer Podcast

An educational podcast for any bloggers, digital influencers or business owners who are looking to build their brand and income. Julie Solomon is a strategic genius and true publicist – she gets clear takeaways out of every single one of her guests with action steps you can apply to your own business. Most recently, my favorite guest has been James Nord from FOHR on the importance of ensuring your following isn’t fake – and why it can actually cause you to lose a lot of money in the  long run.

The School of Greatness

A super motivational podcast featuring inspiring  interviews with successful entrepreneurs, athletes etc.., focusing on what they do to make their lives great. I love listening to this one in the morning or when I’m not feeling motivated. A few interviews I’ve loved lately are with Daymond John from FUBU and Shark Tank and Sara Blakely from SPANX.

The Hidden Brain

An intriguing podcast on the way our brains are wired and how that shapes our behavior (honestly, there’s probably a more scientific way to describe that, but.). This is a podcast that I usually only listen to if there’s a topic that truly interests and engages me. (I love NPR and recently realized they have several different podcasts – I need to catch up!)

The Goop Podcast

A podcast centered around interviews with inspiring leaders and disruptors that are shifting old ways of thought and starting new conversations. I’m not usually Goop’s target audience ($$$) but the thought-provoking, mindful content on the site is intriguing. And when I heard Oprah was on the first episode of the podcast I was hooked, instantly. (Oprah is life.) I’d love to listen to this episode with Adam Grant.

TED Talks Daily

Another podcast where I usually only listen when there’s a topic that peaks my interest. These are great because they differ in length, but many are around 10-25 minutes, so they’re perfect for when you can’t commit to an entire hour.

Happier

An uplifting podcast that brings practical, advice for developing healthy, happy habits. I love this one because the length of the episodes vary so much. 2-4-30-minute episodes are perfect when you need a little boost. Most recently, I enjoyed this episode on the true importance of writing things down (even just emailing yourself!) – if you have a great thought, need to remember something or have a goal.

I love forever35! It’s all about self-care, and it’s from the perspective of two thirty somethings. They review all kinds of products, and it’s an easy listen. I do love ted talks daily, so I’m going to have to try some of your other recommendations! Thanks for the suggestions!
